An Ancient Remedy from 2,500 Years Ago, Specialized for Treating Complex Diseases

01 Introduction: Where Does Disease Originate?
The human body is the most complex and elusive subject in the world. Anyone with spiritual practice experience or attention to health will share the same feeling: all diseases are essentially related to the mind. The Tao Te Ching, as humanity's oldest and most systematic classic of wisdom, contains a remedy for cultivating body and mind prescribed by Laozi. This remedy remains effective to this day.

02 Laozi's Prescription: Attain Ultimate Emptiness, Maintain Deep Stillness
In Chapter 16 of the Tao Te Ching, Laozi writes: "Attain ultimate emptiness, maintain deep stillness. All things arise together, and I observe their return. All things flourish, each returns to its root. Returning to the root is called stillness; stillness is called returning to life; returning to life is called constancy; understanding constancy is called enlightenment. Not understanding constancy, one acts recklessly and brings misfortune."

Laozi believed that the origin of all things is the Tao, and the state of the Tao is "emptiness" and "stillness." At birth, humans are like infants, with empty and still minds. But as worldly affairs disturb them, the mind becomes polluted, desires increase daily, and the limited energy of the body cannot keep up with unlimited desires, leading to illness. Therefore, the core of Laozi's prescription is: attain ultimate emptiness and deep stillness, return to simplicity, go back to the carefree state of an infant, and trust the body's own instincts and power.

03 Understanding Constancy Is Enlightenment: Recognizing Laws Leads to Health
"All things flourish, each returns to its root. Returning to the root is called stillness; stillness is called returning to life; returning to life is called constancy; understanding constancy is called enlightenment." Everything has its own laws of operation. The foundation of life is survival and reproduction—cells do this, and viruses do as well. Health and viruses are like two sides of the same coin; they mutually overcome and generate each other, jointly maintaining the body's operation. When one understands this law of "constancy," they comprehend the essence of things—this is "enlightenment."

04 Not Understanding Constancy, One Acts Recklessly and Brings Misfortune
"Not understanding constancy, one acts recklessly and brings misfortune." If one does not understand these laws and acts rashly, illness and disaster will occur. Each part of the body should fulfill its duties, cooperate synergistically, and obey the brain's commands. But when the brain is controlled by desires, delusions, and thoughts of illness, it favors one side, disrupting the normal order of mutual generation and overcoming, leading to disease.

05 Conclusion: Eliminate Desires, Dissolve Delusions, Remove Thoughts of Illness
Laozi's healing prescription can be summarized as follows: Everything has two sides—positive and negative—and the body is no exception. The good and the bad are originally a whole, jointly maintaining the body's normal operation. But when the "commander" (the mind) becomes biased, the normal order is disrupted, and illness occurs. This bias is desire, delusion, and thoughts of illness. Therefore, eliminating desires, dissolving delusions, and removing thoughts of illness is the fundamental path to health and longevity.
